California Poets on the Schools celebrates and supports a grassroots network of poets and poet-teachers throughout California.  An area coordinator (AC) in each region provides critical outreach, mentorship and ongoing support to local poet-teachers.  Area Coordinators serve as the CalPoets' leader on the ground in a region and as a liasion between all the poet-teachers working in a region, and the central office.  They can apply for an Area Coordinator grant annually to support their work.  Area coordinators are agents of change, helping to achieve our vision of inspiring youth in every California county to discover, cultivate and amplify their own creative voices through poetry.

In this CalPoets' First Friday Monthly Meeting we will provide a brief overview and orientation to the vitally important role of the Area Coordinator.  This event is geared towards all Area Coordinators - regardless of how many years they have held that position.  Our goal in hosting this orientation is to better support these leaders in our network.  We will review responsibilities and benefits of the AC role, and take time for Q&A.   This event will be recorded.
