Rewild the Line: Writing & Teaching Eco-Poetry

In this presentation, Poet-Teachers will learn valuable techniques for sparking creative writing while engaging with ecological concepts. We will encounter ideas, definitions, poems, videos, songs, icebreakers, meditations, discussion questions, writing prompts, and other resources to inspire compelling ways of incorporating eco-poetry, nature poetry, environmental education, climate change, and solarpunk into our teaching practice. Our time together will draw from a four-week unit (including a bonus fifth week for solarpunk) that can be adjusted to suit your own teaching needs and interests. This lesson is designed primarily for grades 6-12 but may be adapted for younger students.
