Rachael Inciarte (she/they) is the author of What Kind of Seed Made You, published by Finishing Line Press and 2022 Eric Hoffer Award Honorable Mention. Their poetry has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net, and published widely both in print and online publications. Rachael holds a BA from Hampshire College and an MFA from Emerson College in Boston. At Emerson they were distinguished as a Graduate Dean’s Fellow of the Writing, Literature, and Publishing program.
As a poet and parent, Rachael is a passionate advocate for arts education. Previous experience includes work in libraries and youth programming, additionally serving as an international student advisor to high school and prospective graduate students. While living in Southern California, they managed a desert conversation magazine, worked at a zoo, and volunteered on the Desert Sands Unified School District Advisory Committee. Now a Placer County resident, Rachael is grateful for the opportunity to support students as a Poet-Teacher for California Poets in the Schools.
